Low Vision

Low vision is the best-corrected visual acuity in the better eye with significant visual field loss or significant contrast sensitivity loss that cannot be rectified by refraction, medical therapy, or surgery. Low vision is caused by age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and Diabetic Retinopathy in the United States. Most patients with impaired vision are older; however, it can affect people of all ages, including children. Low eyesight can significantly reduce a patient’s quality of life, causing anguish and despair.

Our low vision experts use optical devices, orientation and mobility training, psychological support, and other rehabilitation strategies to help patients optimize their vision.
